CELEBRATE KIDS!...Providing a Holiday Celebration for Children of Incarcerated Parents
Celebrate Kids! is an annual holiday event in the Seattle metropolitan area for the children of incarcerated parents. This event had its birthing in 2008, when Justice Works! members, Vance Bartley, Rainier Beach teacher Joleen Franklin, and members of the community connected to design an event that would bring families with incarcerated members together. Vance, an ex three-striker, created the Celebrate Kids idea when he was still incarcerated. He wanted families to come and enjoy a day full of festivities, activities, and gift giving.
